Technology for social good rarely gets the visual treatment it deserves. When Microsoft Azure needed to bring their Custom Vision AI platform to life through a developer campaign, the creative challenge was as much about human connection as it was about interface design.
The campaign required two distinct visual worlds to coexist seamlessly — a warm, illustrated narrative and a precise, functional platform UI. Designing both was the opportunity.

Design the platform UI frames for Microsoft Azure's Custom Vision interface as part of a mixed-media developer campaign — showing how Azure AI technology can be used to detect bee health at scale, making complex technology feel accessible, purposeful and human.

The Chlenge
Two distinct visual languages needed to live in the same film without clashing. The warm, pastoral illustration style used for the narrative scenes — fields, bees, nature — had to transition seamlessly into a precise, tech-forward UI design for the Azure platform sequences.
The interface also had to feel genuinely functional — not a decorative mock-up, but a believable, well-designed product screen that a real developer would trust and recognise.
The Process
Understanding the Azure Custom Vision platform deeply was the starting point — how it actually works, what the user journey looks like, what information matters most at each stage. The UI frames had to reflect real product logic while remaining visually compelling within the film's narrative.
The transition points between illustration and interface were given particular attention — ensuring the visual shift felt intentional and cinematic rather than jarring.
The Approach
A tech-forward visual language was developed for the platform frames — clean, precise and distinctly digital — designed to contrast meaningfully with the warm illustration style of the surrounding narrative.
Every UI screen was crafted to show a clear moment in the user journey: creating a resource, uploading a dataset, training the model, classifying results. The interface tells its own story within the larger one — making complex AI technology feel within reach of any developer.
